As teams start getting their entries together for e-Fest, we thought it might be useful for both students and their faculty coaches to see what a great presentation looks like.
So here is the video for “Park & Diamond” — submitted by Virginia Tech engineering students David Hall and Jordan Klein. This video helped earn the team a spot among the Top 25 finalists invited to compete at the national e-Fest event. At e-Fest, Park & Diamond won the first-place award and $100,000 cash.
Hall and Klein developed a bicycle helmet that resembles a baseball cap rather than the bulky, clunky, hard-to-stow helmets on the market today. Their presentation cited their own careful, rigorous research that showed that most people who don’t wear bicycle helmets say they don’t like how they look. Judges called their helmet a “game changer with a cause” and this video, which shares the tragedy that inspired the invention, is sure to inspire you as well.
